Carey was once a popular fashion model. She's 5'10" tall, and was sought-after by the famous American fashion designers like Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and others. In 1979 in 1979, the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists elected the father of her Scientist of The Year. Carey's father was a geologist and traveled the globe as a part of his career. When she was attending in the University of Colorado at part-time, she caught the interest of a Ford model Agency representative in New York. She lived in France for a short time, including Paris as well as Bordeaux. Then she returned to New York for her college studies as well as to develop her career as a model. In between her modeling assignments she was a full-time student who was pursuing a degree of literature from New York University. After graduation, in New York she began to learn about acting. Her acting debut came with a small character in 'Club Pardise' in 1986 with Robin Williams. Skiing, white water rafting as well as rock climbing are some of her favorite pursuits.
